Plan it to Do It!

“I always wanted to go on a trip!”

Sound familiar? The key part of any trip is moving it from the “I want to” part to “I’m going to”. How do you get from Point A to B? It’s easy…it’s called a PLAN. There is plenty of planning assistance on MomandMeTravels to help you decide where you want to go and when you should go, but the biggest issue is the WANT TO factor.

Let’s run down those excuses one by one…

“I don’t know where to begin”

Do a quick web search for top travel companies. See how many highly respected groups already have established tours that you don’t have to plan? There are several tour companies that take care of your flights and your itinerary…all you have to do is show up at the airport!  Travel has come a long way…there are tours geared toward seniors, toward single travelers and much more. Travel companies make it super easy for you and you can CALL them if you don’t want to book online.

“I can’t afford it”

It may seem unattainable right NOW, but you can save up for a great trip. Start a high-yield online savings account today and direct a small amount of money per month to deposit directly into the account before it hits your regular bank account. If you don’t want to do it online, start a special vacation account at your bank with direct deposit instructions socking a percentage away every month. How about starting out by depositing the contents of your loose change jar? A tax refund, unexpected money? Bam, into the travel account.

“I have a disability”

My Mom is “Deaf in one ear and can’t hear out of the other” as she likes to say. She and I have developed a system to communicate, be it repeating, speaking a bit louder, using a voice software program or texting. Walking sticks are used by everyone who goes for a nature tour and are pretty standard to see on tours. There are specialty travel companies that cater specifically to seniors and to the deaf, blind and mobility impaired. See our resources section. Everyone can travel!

NO MORE EXCUSES! Set a timeline for when you want to go on your trip. Working backwards, set up financial or physical goals to get there in time to pay and prepare yourself for the trip. That is the secret sauce to planning a great trip!
