When to go: May-October; May-August for safari; Sept-Oct will be warmer but still good.

Immigration and Visas: You will need a visa to visit Zimbabwe. Visas are available upon arrival for a cash payment or get an eVisa in advance. Always verify the latest requirements three months before leaving to make sure nothing has changed.

Language: Shona and some Ndebele

Etiquette: Ask before taking photos, respect elders, the right hand is for eating food, the left is considered unclean; handshake when meeting someone or a slight bow to elders upon meeting them. Being late is not uncommon. Avoid political or other sensitive subjects.

Emergencies: 999 for Police; 994 for Ambulance; 112 for Mobile phones

Currency: Zimbabwean Dollar

Transportation: Road travel is the most common, with rail and air travel also used.

Tipping Info: Tipping is expected after safaris, climbs, guided activities, and at tourist accommodations. Recommended safari tipping is $10 per person per day for good service;  $10 for staff/porters per day. Elsewhere 10-15%.
