Before you Book:

Make sure your passport is up to date and has more than six blank pages

Sign up for TSA PreCheck/GOES

Sign up for Travel Insurance – Medicare does not cover international travel

When you Book:

Carefully review contract terms and conditions

Decide if you want Travel Coverage Insurance (check your credit card for this too)

Let your emergency contact know you have booked a trip

30 Days Ahead:

Talk with your doctor about your trip itinerary and if any adjustments need to be made

Talk with your doctor about specialty meds needed for your destination

Square away any visas or permissions needed to enter your destination

Make arrangements for bills to be paid while you are away

Make arrangements for pet sitting, maintenance and other necessaries while you are away

Order foreign currency

14 Days Ahead:

Check on your cell phone plan to see if international is allowed

7  Days Ahead:

Pre-pack and purchase needed items

Remind your emergency contact when you will be leaving

Let your bank know you may be making withdrawals in a foreign country

Let your credit card provider know you may be using it in a foreign country

2 Days Ahead:

Launder any last minute needed items

Gather passport and important documents

Arrange ride to airport/drop off

1 Day Ahead:

Suitcase packed and at the door waiting

Backpack packed with final items and ready to go

Handbag/Man Purse packed with final items and ready to go

Day of Trip:

Plan to arrive at the airport three hours early for international check in; 2 hrs for domestic
