When to go: April – May or September – October is a good time to visit as the weather is warm and it is less crowded. June – August is best for beaches but expect crowds. 

Immigration and Visas: No visa is required for US citizens. Always verify the latest requirements three months before leaving to make sure nothing has changed.

Accessibility Information: Some of the larger cities have accessible newer major hotels and some sights, however, infrastructure may be lacking and places may only be partially accessible. Accessibility outside major cities may be difficult due to historical areas and lack of infrastructure. Call in advance to verify and make specialty arrangements. Language: Turkish

Etiquette: Respect for elders and politeness. Respect personal space and avoid displays of public affection. Use formal titles and avoid shaking hands with opposite sex unless offered, make eye contact when being introduced. Don’t show the bottoms of your feet.

Transportation: Buses and trains are popular. Taxis and metros in large cities. Minibuses between smaller cities.

Tipping Info: About 10-15% for good service, 15-20% for excellent service. Some charge a service fee, so check before tipping. Round up or leave a few US dollars for hotel staff, taxis and other staff. $10-15 US for tour guides.
