One of my favorite ways to save money on travel is to stay with friends or family if they are willing and happy to host you. I’ve had many memorable moments and road trips with friends living overseas.

Be a good guest! I always make sure to bring plenty of “American” gifts with me that they may not be able to get where they are currently living. I also make sure that I am not a bother and contribute to household expenses and food expenses. Finally, make sure you know when your host would like some alone time.
